Who will win the coveted Company of the Year Award at this year’s awards?

The coveted Raging Bull Award for the South African Management Company of the Year was won by Coronation Fund Managers in 2014 for the fifth time and for the second time in a row.

Allan Gray was in second place and Nedgroup Investments was in third place at the 2014 awards, which were based on performance to the end of 2013.

The Company of the Year award is based on the PlexCrown survey of management companies. The survey is published quarterly, and when the survey for performance to the end of March 2014 was released in April, Coronation was still the leader of the pack, with Allan Gray close behind.

But Nedgroup Investments had been displaced by PSG, whose performance across its funds gave it the third best score. See story.

In the quarterly survey to the end of June, Nedgroup Investments clawed its way back to third position, while Coronation and Allan Gray were still in the leading and runner-up positions respectively. See story.

But things got even more interesting at the end of the third quarter to September 2014, and the survey published in October showed Coronation in the lead, with PSG moving strongly into second place. Allan Gray dropped to third place, and Nedgroup Investments came fourth. See story.

If you want to know whether Coronation will retain its leading position, and whether PSG will climb further, and whether Allan Gray and Nedgroup Investments will be among the top three management companies of 2014, don’t miss the 2015 Raging Bull Awards.
